Cascades, Bellevue Hill

The site is located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. It is on a steeply sloping hill that provides extensive ocean views to the east. The project includes 14 x 3 bedroom apartments arranged in a heavily stepped form on  seven levels all over a common basement car park and service level. Access is provided through the centre of the project and includes a two lift interchange configuration that connects all levels.

The site is heavily excavated in sand and required contiguous piling to all perimeter boundaries. Horizontal bracing of the perimeter piling was provided by the building itself. Flying buttress beams link the building to the piling. Each apartment has a large terrace with planting and screening to create privacy and an image of a heavily landscaped, stepped built form.
